The Lac de Sainte Croix
Close to our hotel in Moustiers
After all that effort, unwind at the Lac de Sainte-Croix. An artificial lake born from the dam of the same name, this vast stretch of water will dazzle you with its beaches and other activities for families, sport-lovers or fans of relaxation. Depending on the weather and the sky, its water turns from a slate grey to a lovely turquoise, and can be accessed directly from the towns Sainte-Croix, La Salle or Bauduen. Under a breeze scented with thyme, rosemary and lavender, you’ll fall in love instantly with this environment full of pines and holm oaks that stretches out into the horizon over the Plateau de Valensole, the hills of the nearby Haut Var and the culmination of the Gorges du Verdon. The water of the latter flows into this great 22 km² reservoir that is 90 m deep and contains 750 million m3 of exceptional water for irrigation and drinking.
Enjoy a range of nautical activities on this small bit of the sea inland. Families can dive into the fun of swimming, pedalos or motor-boating (with a quiet motor) in the calm of this preserved site.
Wandering around also comes recommended. You’ll be able to discover cool and shady creeks that are hidden away and which nobody will intrude on for a few hours. Here you can relax, reflect on other walks and plan more explorations to come. The Lac de Sainte-Croix is sure to leave an impression on you.
