The Gorges du Verdon
At the gates of our hotel in Moustiers-Sainte-Marie
From Castellane to Moustiers, discover one of France’s “Grands Sites”, which will make you wonder why holiday anywhere else. Indeed, the Gorges du Verdon are nothing less than the largest canyon in Europe. For thousands of years, water gushed through, tirelessly hacking away at countless layers of rock. This shows not only a literal succession of of the pieces of the territory’s geological history, but also of the men who have helped to shape these lands, both near and far at the same time.
Relaxation is guaranteed, and so is the type of transport you’ve chosen. If you don’t fancy walking, you can take a road trip over to Rougon with its incredible views and to the calm La-Palud-sur-Verdon. In any case, they are both comparable villages of the Lower Alpine valleys (the Lower Alps being another term for the Alps of Haute-Provence), born of close communion and the harmony sought between man and untamed nature.
On foot, the indescribable experience of the Corniche Sublime and the Point Sublime will make for an experience you’ll never forget. Some souvenir photos won’t be able to do full justice to it. The Couloir de Samson, origin or final point of the Sentier Martel, is also worth a walk around. By car, by bike, vertically (climbing), horizontally, or by boat, you’ll be treated to an unmissable experience.
